Today’s blog will introduce one of the Clinical Research Center Study Coordinators. Kim Tally has been with The Corvallis Clinic Research Center since 2008, and she brought several years of research and nursing experience with her. Currently, Kim is the lead coordinator for the anal fissure study, which is now in the recruitment stage.
Kim completed her practical nursing program in 2000 and worked primarily as a nurse until 2004. During Kim’s tenure as a rheumatology nurse, she was asked to join the research group at the University of Arizona Arthritis Center in Tucson. Kim worked for this group until 2008 when her family relocated to Corvallis; U of A’s loss was our gain!
Since joining The Corvallis Clinic, Kim has worked on a number of clinical studies. In addition to the anal fissure study, Kim has been the lead coordinator for studies involving diabetes, flu vaccine, incontinence, and multiple sclerosis. This year, Kim continued to improve her research nurse skills by completing the testing required by the Academy of Clinical Research Professionals to become a Certified Clinical Research Coordinator.
Kim, her husband, and two boys recently moved to acreage in Philomath where they are diving into rural life with a growing menagerie of farm animals. When she has free time Kim enjoys reading novels, trying out new recipes, and is learning to preserve the bounty from her large garden.
Kim began working with Dr. Hsichao Chow and Dr. Sooyun Chun on the anal fissure study in August 2013. Anal fissures are characterized by severe pain/bleeding associated with bowel movements. Many sufferers incorrectly attribute this to another condition, such as hemorrhoids.
