In August of 2022, Dr. Glenn Huerta-Enochian, a long term member of The Pacific Coast Obstetrical and Gynecological Society (PCOGS), will take over the helm as President for one year. The Society, which was founded in 1931, has a long tradition of excellent annual scientific meetings that offer presentations from all areas of the specialty. The Society is composed of five regional caucuses representing the geographic organization of the PCOGS structure. Members (Fellows) reside in seven western states stretching from Arizona to Alaska, including Hawaii.
The Pacific Coast Obstetrical and Gynecological Society is dedicated to excellence in the development and delivery of health care to women. Physician educators, researchers, and practitioners from university and private practice settings collaborate to share the advancing knowledge of the specialty and to develop evidence based diagnostic and treatment guidelines for dissemination to health care providers and their patients. The membership is encouraged to make continuing education in all aspects of women’s health care a lifetime professional goal.
Membership in the society has always been by invitation, and presentation of a scientific paper is the steppingstone to membership. During Dr. Huerta-Enochian’s years of membership, he has been active on many different committees and has authored and presented several papers of which three have been published in the American Journal of OB-GYN. The Society has been a source of enjoyment and has helped with patient care by fostering friendships and professional relationships throughout the Western US. He is looking forward to presiding at the 2023 meeting and to continuing to contribute to the Society through his service.
