Raised in Minnesota, Katharine “Kat” Dunlevy, PA-C, grew up in Idaho. She completed her Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology and French at Boise State University and a Master’s in Physician Assistant Studies at Idaho State University. She then completed her residency in Family Medicine in Boise, providing all aspects of family and internal medicine.
Because “Life is best out West,” she ultimately made her way to Oregon, where she settled with her husband. In Oregon, before joining Philomath Family Medicine, she served as a physician associate in Boardman and Pendleton. She also ran a small hobby farm with her husband while pursuing their respective careers.
When Mrs. Dunlevy entered academia, she was interested in why humans, as a species, do what we do. This interest led to her studies in anthropology and French. Over time, that interest developed into why people do what they do due to biological, psychological, and societal influences. Along that vein, transitioning from medical anthropology to medical practice felt natural for Mrs. Dunlevy. As her education progressed, she found her true passion in primary care.
“What I love about primary care is the opportunity it provides to be a part of many different aspects of one’s health and care. I maintain a strong focus on preventative care while also having specific interests in experience in behavioral medicine, substance use disorder, medication-assisted treatment, women’s health, and healthcare equalities.”
Mrs. Dunlevy sees herself not only as a medical consultant but also as a patient advocate. She can provide medical advice and treatment, but she also aims to help patients overcome societal, industrial, and personal barriers to healthcare.
The core values of Mrs. Dunlevy’s personal life are happiness and health, and she hopes her work will increase those ideals in others. Outside of seeing patients, she finds happiness and health in life with her husband and dogs. She enjoys rock climbing, painting, gardening, archery, cooking with her husband, and spending time outdoors.
