Tabitha Bayne, PA-C, was raised in Arizona, where she learned to love and respect the desert. She received her bachelor’s degree in Arizona and her master’s degree in Montana and established her career in Massachusetts before returning to her home state of Arizona to be closer to her family. While traveling to visit friends in the Pacific Northwest, she was “moved by the serenity of the mountains and forests” and has found her second home in Oregon.
Being from the desert, Ms. Bayne naturally has a passion for and interest in sun protection, skin cancer prevention, and early detection. Skin cancer is prevalent in Arizona, and she discovered the value of prevention education early in her career. While Oregonians don’t see as much sun as in Arizona, sun and UV protection are still important, even on cloudy days. Ms. Bayne desires to educate patients and help set them up for success when it comes to their skin.
At a young age, Ms. Bayne and her brother both struggled with acne, with her brother having a more severe experience. She remembers watching how it affected him physically, mentally, and emotionally and wishing there was something more she could do to help him. With various medical issues in her family and exposure to medicine at a young age, Ms. Bayne was drawn to pursuing a career in healthcare. In college, she worked at a medical office next to a dermatology clinic, where she became friends with one of the physician associates. Her experiences led her to want to pursue becoming a physician associate and pursue dermatology. Additionally, Ms. Bayne expressed, “The artistic side of me really enjoys the visual aspect, perception, interpretation, and challenge of dermatology.”
Ms. Bayne describes her approach to patient care as collaborative and has learned over the years in her practice that everyone comes from somewhere different and has varying tolerances and desired outcomes. “I think it is important to meet people where they are and come up with realistic solutions- together.”
Patients have described Ms. Bayne as thorough, approachable, and calm. “I take this as a compliment and plan to continue providing effective care to improve this rapport with my patients and practice.”
Outside patient care, Ms. Bayne enjoys painting, cooking, crafting, hiking, backpacking, biking, kayaking, traveling, and spending quality time with friends and family.
