Betsy Davis, DO, was raised in Holland, Michigan, and exposed to healthcare early in life as her father worked as a hospital pharmacist. Driven by her love for science and desire to help people, she has always known her calling: “I have wanted to be a physician ever since I can remember.” She attended Calvin University for her undergraduate studies before moving to the Chicago area for graduate school, where she met her husband. They both attended medical school at Midwestern University before relocating to Grand Rapids for residency. During this time, they welcomed their daughter.
Her interest in pediatrics was sparked during her medical school rotation in a pediatric outpatient primary care office. Connecting with families and witnessing the joy of watching her patients grow and develop, she knew that pediatrics was her calling. Dr. Davis believes in a team approach, involving patients and their families in informed decision-making about their health. She strives to make her patients feel heard and valued. “My goal for each patient is that they feel heard and feel like their needs are met in terms of their health.”
Dr. Davis finds newborn visits, especially with new parents, particularly rewarding. As a new mom, she understands how intimidating and nerve-wracking it can be when parents first bring their new baby home from the hospital. She is also passionate about preventative medicine, well-child visits, and treating chronic conditions such as asthma and mental health disorders.
Beyond her medical practice, she enjoys spending quality time with her husband and daughter. They engage in outdoor activities such as going on walks, visiting parks, and exploring the beach. Additionally, she finds relaxation and balance through hobbies like hiking, yoga, and bike riding.
