Jorden Hinds, DPT, has joined The Corvallis Clinic Physical Therapy Department at Waverly Drive in Albany. He can be reached at 541-967-8221.
Mr. Hinds earned his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Creighton University in Omaha, Neb., in 2014 and a Bachelor of Science in Exercise and Sport Science from Oregon State University in 2011. His clinical experience since 2012 has involved treating individuals with orthopedic and neurological conditions in the outpatient and acute rehabilitation settings at Therapeutic Associates, Wilsonville; Providence St. Mary Medical Center, Walla Walla, Wash.; St. Peter’s Hospital, Helena, Mont.; and Billings Clinic, Billings, Mont.
He has a special interest in treating the geriatric population and individuals who have neurological conditions, such as strokes and Parkinson’s disease. He also enjoys working with athletes.
Mr. Hinds said he became interested in physical therapy after learning about its application in rural areas of foreign countries. When working with patients he aims to listen to their concerns and goals and partner with them in the process of returning them to their highest level of function.
He cites the following as an example of this approach: “A gentleman was in a significant amount of pain and did not want to participate in physical therapy. By listening to his concerns and gradually working with him to gain his trust, this man was able to achieve more than he thought possible.” He defines a successful patient interaction by the patient feeling significantly cared for while reducing their pain and functional limitations with the skills and knowledge he has a physical therapist.
Outside of his practice, Mr. Hinds enjoys hiking, fishing, basketball, and church activities.
