CORVALLIS — Andrew “Andy” Owenreay (Owen-ray), D.O., MPH, will join The Corvallis Clinic Immediate Care Center in early October.
Dr. Owenreay said he decided to specialize in immediate care medicine because his greatest satisfaction comes from being a first-line provider who discerns and treats acute problems.
He completed his residency at Montana Family Medicine Residency at RiverStone Health, in Billings, MT, this year. He earned a Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine and a Master of Public Health from Touro University California, College of Osteopathic Medicine, in Vallejo, CA, in 2015. He also earned a Master of Science in Chemical Engineering, from Texas Tech University, in Lubbock, TX, in 2008.
A desire to make a positive contribution to the world through a career brought Dr. Owenreay to medicine. “I wanted to study family medicine in particular because there is a great need for access to primary care in the United States,” he said.
He seeks to provide the best evidence-based care he in a compassionate and non-judgmental manner. “Throughout the process of examining the patient, explaining the diagnosis, and developing a plan of care, I will respect the patient and their autonomy,” he said. “It’s a shared decision-making process.”
Dr. Owenreay is especially interested in the weight-neutral Health at Every Size approach to care and in providing quality, evidence-based care for larger patients. He also is moderately proficient in medical Spanish.
Outside his practice, he and his wife have an interest in permaculture and sustainable living, and he plays the guitar, bass, mandolin, banjo and drums.
