CORVALLIS — Nelson J. Binggeli, PhD, has joined The Corvallis Clinic Behavioral Health Department as a licensed psychologist. To make an appointment, call 541-754-1288.
Dr. Binggeli treats mood and anxiety disorders, adult ADHD, sleep disorders, trauma, and stress. He has worked with diverse populations and has advanced training in cognitive behavioral and culturally competent psychotherapy.
“My goal is to create a respectful and supportive environment,” he said, “in which clients learn new perspectives and skills to overcome the challenges in their lives.”
Dr. Binggeli was a staff psychologist and assistant coordinator for clinical services at the Georgia Institute of Technology Counseling Center in Atlanta from 2006 to 2013. He was an assistant professor of psychology at Colorado State University-Pueblo from 2004-2006.
After earning a doctorate in counseling psychology from Georgia State University in Atlanta in 2003, he completed a postdoctoral fellowship in 2004 at the Georgia Institute of Technology Counseling Center, also in Atlanta. He received a master’s in counseling and counselor education in 1995 and a bachelor’s degree in history in 1988 from Indiana University.
Dr. Binggeli chose the field of psychology because he said it combines a subject that is “endlessly interesting” with being able to help people. “People typically come to psychotherapy when they are feeling stuck despite their best efforts,” he said. “I find it very rewarding to use my skills to help them tap into their strengths and learn new skills to enable them to improve their life situation.”
