CORVALLIS — The Corvallis Clinic was among organizations nationwide who were nominated for the 2017 Secretary of Defense Employer Freedom Award.
Nominations must come from Guard or Reserve members who are employed by the organization they are nominating, or from a family member. The award was created in 1996 to publicly recognize employers who provide exceptional support to their Guard and Reserve employees. It is the highest in a series of employer recognition awards given by the Department of Defense.
“It really is not a small thing to employ Guard and Reserve service members and to be flexible with their hectic schedules,” said Administrative Assistant Evan Riley, who is among Clinic employees and providers who serve or who have served. “Throughout my enlistment with the Navy Reserves, I’ve needed to take time off work with very short notice due to receiving orders that were either expected or unexpected. Every person, manager or supervisor at The Corvallis Clinic has given me total support when I needed to leave work to perform my duties with the Navy. For that, I am extremely grateful.”
