CORVALLIS — The Corvallis Clinic’s Dam Cancer campaign has received a 2016 Cancer Awareness Advertising Gold Award, earning the recognition by scoring among the top 5 percent of nationwide submissions.
The Cancer Awareness Advertising Awards (CAA Awards) is the nation’s most elite competition dedicated specifically to the promotion of all cancer products and services. Only advertising and marketing projects that are designed, printed and published for the sole purpose of cancer awareness can be entered into the annual program.
Entries are judged by a panel of design and healthcare marketing professionals based on creativity, layout and design, typography, production, and quality and overall effectiveness. The Dam Cancer entry was entered in the Medical Practice (Non-Hospital) group and the Total Advertising Campaigns category.
Dam Cancer is a campaign created through a partnership between The Corvallis Clinic and Oregon State University Athletics. It seeks to provide cancer-awareness support by its “Pink” athletic events at OSU. Teams tout pink uniforms, and fans are encouraged to wear pink.
“This is a well-deserved honor for The Corvallis Clinic,” said Oregon State women’s basketball coach Scott Rueck. “We are proud to promote cancer awareness in our Dam Cancer game each season and are thankful to The Corvallis Clinic for all of the support they provide. I look forward to a continued partnership with The Corvallis Clinic, as we aim to fight cancer together.”
In addition, survivors are celebrated, and special promotional activities highlight awareness and raise funds for cancer patient support. The campaign also includes digital signage at events, and print and digital ads.
Dam Cancer is associated with Project H.E.R. (Help. Enlightenment. Resources), a comprehensive cancer support and outreach program for women in Benton, Linn, and Lincoln counties. The program provides awareness, education, and support for all patients, from the time of a cancer diagnosis through survivorship. It has recently expanded its educational offerings beyond breast cancer to include other cancers.
The Corvallis Clinic, an independent, physician-led medical group, is a comprehensive multi-specialty organization, serving Benton, Linn and Lincoln counties. It offers more than 100 board-certified providers and advanced professionals in 27 specialties at 10 area locations. As the fourth-largest area employer, The Clinic has 600 employees.
