Benjamin “Benji” Caulum, DO, is originally from Southern California and has lived in Arizona, Hawaii, Ghana, West Africa (during Peace Corps service), Mississippi, and Louisiana. His professional journey has been equally varied, having first worked in aquatics and forestry before starting his medical career.
Dr. Caulum’s interest in healthcare was sparked during his service in the Peace Corps. There, he discovered a passion for medicine from his hands-on experiences caring for himself and those around him, whether treating travelers’ diarrhea, managing machete cuts, or dealing with malaria and bot flies. These experiences laid the foundation for his career in family medicine.
As a family medicine physician, Dr. Caulum brings a wealth of skills and knowledge to his practice. He is proficient in Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment (OMT), joint injections, and minor procedures such as skin biopsies, sutures, and cyst excisions. He recently completed the Wilderness Medical Society’s Diploma in Dive and Marine Medicine, further underscoring his commitment to expanding his medical expertise.
Outside the clinic, Dr. Caulum is an avid outdoorsman, enjoying almost every outdoor activity, and he is especially passionate about aquatics. Additionally, he is a master craftsman, currently channeling his skills into building a 16-foot trimaran sailboat of his own design.
