Jonathan Bennion, MD, was born and raised in Los Angeles, California, alongside an older sister and two younger brothers. His diverse experiences living and traveling across the United States and internationally, including time spent in Portugal and Cape Verde, have enriched his perspective on medicine and patient care.
Inspired by his relative, Dr. John Carver, an ophthalmologist, Dr. Bennion chose to pursue a career in medicine. After graduating from college, he had the privilege of working in Dr. Carver’s practice, where he witnessed firsthand the dedication and continuous learning that defines a great physician. Throughout medical school and residency, Dr. Bennion developed a particular interest in endocrinology, drawn to the opportunity for meaningful conversations with patients about their physiology and metabolism.
Known for his visual approach to patient education, Dr. Bennion often utilizes illustrations on a whiteboard to help patients better understand their conditions. He believes that building strong relationships with his patients is essential, as it not only enhances their experience but also makes his work incredibly rewarding. Patients often describe him as a thoughtful listener who takes a comprehensive approach to their care.
Outside of his professional life, Dr. Bennion cherishes spending time with his wife and three sons. He is passionate about distance running and hiking, which serve as both a way to maintain his fitness and challenge his physical limits.
