Samuel Grugel, DPT, hails from Jamestown, ND, a close-knit community where he is the youngest of three siblings. He began his healthcare journey with undergraduate Exercise Science and Psychology degrees from the University of Jamestown. Samuel advanced his education by completing his Doctorate of Physical Therapy at the University of Jamestown’s Fargo campus. Samuel is known for his friendly and approachable demeanor and values compassion and empathy in his practice.
Samuel was drawn to helping people from an early age, but his experiences with physical therapy during high school truly shaped his career path. After sustaining injuries from playing soccer and hockey, he benefited significantly from the support of his physical therapists. This positive impact inspired him to pursue a career where he could blend his passion for fitness with his desire to assist others in their recovery.
Samuel’s approach to physical therapy is deeply rooted in the holistic, evidence-based care model he studied at the University of Jamestown. His background in psychology has provided him with a unique perspective on the mind-body connection, which he integrates into his treatment plans. He is dedicated to addressing the whole person, considering their physical, psychological, and social well-being.
Samuel takes a personalized approach to patient care, focusing on understanding each individual’s unique experiences, hobbies, and health goals. He believes that while addressing specific symptoms is essential, it is equally crucial to consider the patient’s overall well-being and expectations for treatment. He aims to support patients in their physical recovery and achieve their health aspirations.
Outside of his professional life, Samuel is passionate about various activities. He grew up playing hockey and soccer and enjoyed spending time at the lake during the summertime boating and wakeboarding. His current hobbies include working out, exploring the ocean (with aspirations to surf), hiking, and watching hockey and football on TV. Samuel is also passionate about playing the drums and listening to (mostly) heavy music.
