Dr. Light is an Oregonian through and through. He was born and raised in Sandy, attended Linfield College in McMinnville, attended medical school at OHSU, and built a life in Tualatin with his wife. He finished his residency across the country but always intended to move home to Oregon once he finished.
With an aptitude for science, anatomy, and math in high school, Dr. Light decided he wanted to apply it to help people, which led him to pursue medicine. In medical school, he was exposed to otolaryngology by residents and faculty, and he was involved in various research projects. “Ear, nose, and throat encompass a vast anatomic area and diverse pathology. Helping people comprehensively manage problems both medically and surgically is very rewarding,” stated Dr. Light. “The diversity of otolaryngology is one of the driving forces that led me to choose this field.”
As a board-certified otolaryngologist, Dr. Light offers all manner of comprehensive ear, nose, and throat services. In particular, a comprehensive and modern nasal practice is something new that he’ll be able to provide the Corvallis area community and greater Willamette Valley. “Office-based and operative procedures to the paranasal sinuses, nasal airway, and nasal structure will be a focus of my practice,” said Dr. Light. These treatments will focus on improving nasal breathing, managing chronic sinonasal complaints, and correcting nasal deformity.
“My goal with patient care is to educate patients on their problems. This allows them to be empowered with knowledge to make informed decisions about their healthcare delivery. I want to be an advocate and help patients through their problems. By utilizing this philosophy of joint decision making, patients can understand the treatment strategies that we can implement and the rationale behind them.” Dr. Light has enjoyed having longitudinal relationships with patients and their families. “Getting to know people personally and seeing sustained results allows me to know we are making a difference.”
Outside of his practice, Dr. Light focuses on his family- his wife, two daughters, and a poodle. He enjoys sports, many outdoor physical activities, and experiencing the outdoors with his family.
